My Emmaline loves Elmo & Dora. She enjoys bellowing out the ‘ABCs’ with anyone who’s so inclined & humming along to most any song she hears. We play ‘peek-a-boo’ & read favorite books. She loves milk & cheese.. peas & broccoli.. and is usually happy at meal time- no more throwing food. At bedtime, we sing ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ together (something I started from the beginning). I feel my heart swell when she looks directly at me grabs my hand & smiles, happily singing along.
I’m thankful waking up to your cheerful chatter in the mornings. You amaze & delight me, you frustrate me & push boundaries, but you still want to hold my hand. I know that now our time together is precious because inevitably you will continue to grow. At 20 months you are already beginning to assert your independence, I realize it’s going to be a bumpy ride.
It’s still surreal… that I am a mother… But I am thankfully yours, my sweet Emmaline.
